Every leader faces a succession of leadership transitions as they develop and grow their career, a leader’s performance during this transition phase is vital. What steps should a leader take during this time to ensure longer-term success in their new role?

Watch your language! If you are not specific with your wording, then you are giving yourself permission not to succeed. Other goal killers are words like “I’ll try”, “I’d love to, but…”, “I wish I could do that, but…” I am sure you know where I am coming from with this.

Thought as a starting blog for 2010, I’d explore two elements of Leadership – self-leadership and organisational leadership – which we can then mull over in more detail in further blogs.

It is up to each person what they do with feedback received, but the worst a Manager can do is “nothing”. This is an opportunity for improvement, it must be taken.
